Our Recycling Programs

Refilling cuts down on what you buy new. Recycling handles what you can't refill. Between our partnerships with UN-WASTE and Students Run Philly Style, we're helping keep food scraps, hard-to-recycle plastics, and old sneakers out of the landfill.

Food Scraps & Organics Recycling

We're an official drop-off location for UN-WASTE. Every Thursday, 11am–1pm, bring us your food scraps and we'll make sure they don't end up in a landfill.

How it works: Pick up your first bucket in-store and fill it with food scraps throughout the week. Swap your full bucket for a clean one, every Thursday between 11am-1pm.

Pay-As-You-Go or Weekly Subscription. With pay-as-you-go, buy your buckets as needed while supplies last ($10 per bucket). Subscribe, and you get one bucket per week, plus 10% off all in-store products ($25 every 4 weeks).

A few things to know: buckets need to be fully closed and sealed before drop-off. Lost, stolen, or damaged buckets carry a $20 replacement fee.

Zero-Waste Bags

Part two of our UN-Waste partnership: Zero Waste Bags, made possible through TerraCycle. These catch everything your curbside bin won't: plastic packaging, styrofoam, coffee pods, cork, eyewear, clothing and fabric, water filters, media storage, food and drink pouches, milk and juice cartons, office supplies, oral care packaging, wires and cords, and more.

Buy a bag in-store ($12 small / $20 large), fill it up, and drop it back off for free. Bags can be dropped off any time we're open. Keep each bag to a single waste stream and mark the checkbox for what's inside. No cleaning required, but please make sure items are dry and excess product is removed.

Sneaker Recycling

Look for the sneaker.impact bin right outside our door. Every pair of old sneakers you drop in supports Students Run Philly Style, a nonprofit that pairs mentors with Philadelphia students in grades 6–12 as they train for half and full marathons.

Here's what happens to the shoes: gently worn pairs get shipped to developing nations, repaired, and sold locally. Heavily worn pairs are ground into raw materials for insulation, surfacing, and new footwear. Nothing goes to waste, and for every pair collected, Students Run Philly Style receives a donation.
